CSO and Rova Present

CSO & Ché-Fu

CSO loves connecting with musicians who have left a lasting musical legacy across Aotearoa, and this year we collaborate with Aotearoa New Zealand hip-hop icon Ché-Fu. A versatile artist who first rose to fame as a founding member of the award-winning band Supergroove in the nineties, Ché-Fu features on many songs that have since achieved ‘classic kiwi anthem’ status – the likes of Can’t Get Enough and You Gotta Know.

Ché-Fu went on to a successful solo career with albums that earned him many accolades, helping pave the way for other local artists, who witnessed the genre reaching new heights of mainstream popularity and commercial success. Audiences may remember Fade Away, which won him Single of the Year at the 2002 New Zealand Music Awards, and Misty Frequencies, which took home the APRA Silver Scroll that same year.

Ché-Fu’s captivating performances as a pioneer of hip-hop and Pasifika music in Aotearoa have earned him a Pacific Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Award, and the title of Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM).
